    Thanks for sharing this! I think it’s really important in times like these to preach resilience and strength, especially as the outlook to lead by example and show children.

    I was blown away when Rabbi Shimon explained how we know happiness only in relation to our parents.

    It reminded me of a passage in Fight Club where Tyler Durden explains that men look for God in/through their father.

    Then things clicked: how we continue to look at the world through our parents’s eyes, long after we’re through with high chairs and sippy cups, in order to make sense of things. And like the Rabbi says it can become its own destructive loop when we can’t see eye to eye on a definition of happiness–but pain and punishment remain mutually exclusive terms.
