flyflyflyParticipant2 weeks agoLooking for ppls experiences positive or negative… by getting justice against their abuser of csa criminally or civily? The complexity is he is married now and has children … his wife now knows after close to 20 years but would really hurt their family if he went to jail … i was told by the DA that there is a case and if i charge he will go to jail. So many mixed emotions

Would you have to testify? If yes, definitely take into consideration all the emotions that will likely come up.
I’m assuming you’ve discussed this with your therapist, right?

FunJesterParticipant1 week agoI’m so sorry that you had to suffer through that!
Has the abuser done anything to rectify his behavior? Has he made a real amends, shown honest remorse, gone for help etc? If he has, then perhaps it wouldn’t serve a real purpose to send him to jail? I can’t tell you from a perspective of how it would help you on a personal level because bh I don’t have this challenge.
On the other hand if he hasn’t done all that, it’s a different ballgame.
However you decide I hope you get closure from your past suffering.
